On joining the environment art team at Criterion Games I was given the Riviera track to complete. It had already been built, textured and playtested but required some re-working:
  • building and texturing of the mountainside hotel with open sided tunnel
  • remodelling and texturing of the mountainside area
  • terrain lod models
  • rebuilding and texturing of the hotels
  • object placement
  • building the marina including the boats
  • placement of assets
  • lod models
  • distance models and textures
  • tree assets
I then worked on the joining sections that linked the tracks together to form the longer point-to-point races. This included modelling the terrain, roads and junctions as well as placement of assets. The point-to-point races I worked on are:
  • Coastal Dream (Riviera-Vineyard loop)
  • Continental Run (Alpine-Riviera-Vineyard)
  • Alpine Expressway (Riviera-Alpine-Winter City)
  • Tropical Drive (Island Paradise-Golden City loop)
The latter involved a lot of work as it was originally to have been a loop including the Dockside track but, due to that track being behind schedule, it was left out and a larger section of track had to be created to join the Island Paradise and Golden City tracks together. I was part of a two man team put onto the track to create this and was mainly responsible for all the tunnels, the suspension bridge and the approach to the Island Paradise section.
